String instruments are among the most complex instruments
to master due to the bow, a lack of frets and the importance of correct, fluid posture from the beginning. This makes
it difficult to excel with only group classes, especially for young children without daily parent involvement. The students
and parent learn what to practice and how to practice at private lessons.
There are two sessions per week (one individual lesson
and one group lesson) for all Suzuki students from Beginning to Advanced level.( Ages from 4-16). Private lessons are scheduled
Monday , Tuesday and group lessons on Thursday.
INDIVIDUAL LESSONS
There are approximately 18 lessons per semester of 30,
45, or 60 minutes in length. The length of the lesson is determined by the teacher and is based on the child's age, attention
span, and skill level. Parents are present for the private lesson and take notes to use while creating the daily practice
sessions. Certain lessons may be used as a "parent lesson." For example, a parent may learn a specific instrumental technique
including position, intonation, tuning, or emphasis may be placed on specific instructional techniques such as practice strategies.
At least once a year the lesson is used as a parent/teacher conference to discuss the progress made during the year or to
prepare for summer practice and study.
SHARED EXPERIENCES
Group lessons are another element of the Suzuki method.
In group classes, students have an opportunity for social interaction with other young musicians. Students are placed in groups
according to their playing level. The classes offer an opportunity for the students to work on performance techniques in a
familiar environment built on trust. The confidence they gain here serves them well in performances that are more public.
Lessons begin at half an hour for Book I. Lessons
for young children include time to refine the parents’ teaching skills.
Students in Books II and III have 45-minute lessons.
Students in Book IV and beyond have lessons of 1 hour.
Tuition rates are very competitive with other local violin
studios and schools, especially when you consider that the weekly rate includes both a private lesson and a group lesson.
30-minute private lesson and 30 minute group lesson -
$39/week
45-minute private lesson and 45 minute group lesson -

There is a annual registration fee of $75 in September
to cover professional development, recitals etc.
